What have we learned about poverty and inequality? Evidence from cross-national analysis

چکیده
tionally comparable micro-census data on household composition, income and its components, and labor market outcomes has helped us understand why child poverty is a serious social problem in the United States. This essay considers what we have learned from cross-national analyses of the sources of poverty, and it describes what these analyses can still teach us about the both the effects of public redistribution policies on the distribution of income and their impact on economic and social behaviors.
